Alumni Association Seeks Yearbooks to Preserve Shelby-Tennant History
Join the Shelby-Tennant Alumni Association in preserving local history! As they seek yearbooks from former students, you can contribute at Carstens Farm Days or at Shelby City Hall. Help keep the school's legacy alive and engage with your community!
The Shelby-Tennant Alumni Association is on a mission to preserve the school's history by collecting yearbooks from former students. Chuck Martens, a member of the Association, highlighted the uncertainty surrounding the location of yearbooks after the school merged with AvoHa in 1996 to form the A-H-S-T (now AHSTW) School District.
To support their initiative, the Alumni Association will have a booth at Carstens Farm Days on September 7 and 8, where attendees can donate yearbooks. They will also provide current and past newsletters, and former students can sign up for membership, which is free but includes a $5 annual fee for a newsletter copy.
The Association welcomes anyone who attended Shelby-Tennant or its predecessor schools to join. Donations of yearbooks are also accepted at Shelby City Hall, and the Shelby County Historical Museum in Harlan will display the collected items for the community.
Martens stressed the importance of maintaining the school’s identity and encouraged local residents to get involved.
