Be in a Movie: Documentary Crew Needs 100 Local Extras for Church Scene Shoot
A Harlan-based documentary crew is filming a church scene — and they need real locals to fill the pews. Here's how you can be part of it.
A Harlan-based documentary crew is turning to the community for its next scene — and all it takes is showing up.
Fresh Road Media, a local broadcast and media nonprofit, is filming a simulated Sunday morning service at Fresh Encounter Church on Tuesday, April 7th at 6:30 PM. The crew needs roughly 100 people to sit in the congregation while cameras roll. No acting experience. No preparation. Just show up.
The footage may end up in a feature-length documentary. At the same time, Fresh Road Media is producing a promotional video for Fresh Encounter Church at no cost to the church — a gift, church leadership says, they didn't expect.
Church leaders chose a Tuesday for the filming deliberately. Sunday mornings are reserved for worship — not film crews.
Attendees who show up may find themselves in the final documentary cut. They'll definitely be in Fresh Encounter's promotional video. And afterward, there's an ice cream social for everyone who participated.
No experience is necessary. Participants are simply asked to arrive, take a seat, and be part of a congregation for about 45 minutes.
Those interested in participating can find full details and register via the Facebook event here. There is no cost to attend. Participants are asked to arrive at Fresh Encounter Church, located at 1003 Tarkington Street in Harlan, at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, April 7th.
