Alma Marie Book, a cherished member of the Harlan community, passed away on February 25, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born on January 13, 1933, in Defiance, Iowa, Alma was the daughter of Arthur and Magdelina Book. After schooling at St. Paul's Catholic School, she held various secretarial roles in Omaha before moving to California. In the 1970s, she returned to her roots in Harlan, where she spent nearly 30 years at Country Care Center and worked at CDS.
Alma also lived at Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids and St. Anthony's Nursing Home in Carroll later in life.
She is survived by her daughter Mary Schultes, five grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren, and several siblings.
