Beloved Harlan Community Member Eldon Erickson Passes Away

Eldon Howard Erickson, a lifelong resident of Harlan, Iowa, passed away on July 29, 2025, at age 86. Born on July 24, 1939, Eldon was a proud graduate of Harlan High School Class of 1957 and served in the U.S. Air Force.

He married Lesly Hansen on September 3, 1961, at the First Christian Church in Harlan, where they built their life together, raising a son, Trevor, who sadly passed away in 1993. Eldon was known for his strong work ethic, holding various positions in the community, including a police officer for the Harlan Police Department and roles in local businesses like Claire Lyons Plumbing and Harlan Manufacturing.

He was actively involved in the Harlan community as the secretary of the Harlan Cemetery Board for over two decades and a member of the VFW. Eldon enjoyed working on cars, home remodeling, and spending time with family, especially during gatherings.

Visitation will be held at Heartland Funeral Home in Harlan on August 1, 2025, from 2 to 4 PM. A private graveside service will follow.
