Beloved Harlan Community Member Lila Davis Passes Away at 91

Lila June Davis, a beloved member of the Harlan community, passed away peacefully in Washington, Iowa, on November 15, 2025, at the age of 91. Originally from Minden, Iowa, she graduated from Shelby High School in 1952.

Lila married Ronald R. Davis on June 11, 1955, and they settled in Harlan in 1962, where they raised their family. Lila was a dedicated homemaker known for her humor and love for baking, fondly referring to herself as the "New Food Mama." She later worked at Shelby County State Bank, developing close bonds with coworkers and customers.

After moving to Sun City West and later Washington, Lila enjoyed spending time with friends, playing card games, and cherishing moments with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Lila is survived by her son Craig and daughter Coleen, along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be planned at Halcyon House in Washington at a later date.
