Beloved Harlan Community Member RoseAnn Schnack Passes Away at 91
The Harlan community mourns the loss of RoseAnn Schnack, who touched many hearts during her 91 years. From her cherished meals at Harlan Community Schools to her unwavering spirit at St. Michael’s, her legacy will forever resonate in our town.
RoseAnn Jean Schnack, a beloved member of the Harlan community, passed away on August 20, 2024, at the age of 91. Born in Panama, Iowa, on March 24, 1933, RoseAnn spent her early years in the area before graduating from Persia High School in 1951.
She worked at Farner’s Department Store in Harlan, where she met her husband Ernest “Ernie” Schnack. The couple married in 1955 and raised four children while also contributing to the community. RoseAnn’s roles included managing bookkeeping at Schnack Auto Parts and cooking at Harlan Community Schools, where her meals were appreciated by many, including her grandchildren.
Actively involved in St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, RoseAnn was known for her love of family, her cooking skills, and her joyful spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
