Stanley Richard Johannsen, a beloved member of the Harlan community, passed away on February 13, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on November 7, 1936, Stanley grew up in Walnut, Iowa, and graduated from Harlan High School in 1955 before serving in the U.S. Navy.
Stanley married Veretta Ann Jensen in 1956, and together they raised three daughters. He contributed to the local economy through various jobs, including truck driving and operating Johannsen Oil Co. He was an active community member, participating in the Shelby County Fair Parade and serving at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Known affectionately as "Stan, Stan, the popcorn man," he delighted in community events and spent winters in Texas, enjoying shuffleboard and making new friends. After moving to Midland, he enjoyed local baseball games and continued contributing to his community.
Stanley is survived by his wife, Veretta, two daughters, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
