Beloved Harlan Matriarch Yvonne Johnson Passes Away at 96

Harlan resident Yvonne Johnson, 96, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2025, at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City. She will be remembered for her deep roots in Harlan and her commitment to family and community.

Yvonne was born on December 12, 1928, southeast of Harlan and graduated from Harlan High School in 1947. Following her education, she worked at a jewelry store and later at Farm Credit, dedicating many years to her career after raising her three sons: Roger, Curtis, and Scott.

A passionate supporter of her children's sports and music, Yvonne enjoyed bringing family and friends together through potlucks and holiday gatherings. She was a lifelong member of Asbury United Methodist Church and actively participated in various community organizations.

Yvonne is survived by her three sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous family members. Her legacy of love and kindness will be cherished by all who knew her.
