Doraine Jane Wigg, a longtime resident of Harlan, passed away on August 19, 2024, at the age of 94 in Grinnell, Iowa.
Born on December 3, 1929, near Manning, Iowa, she graduated from Elk Horn High School and worked at R.C. Booth Enterprises in Harlan. Doraine was married to Barthel “Bud” Wigg on January 5, 1950, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, where they raised four children: Diana, Bruce, Curtis, and Darla.
In her later years, Doraine worked at Olsen’s Grocers and the Harlan Bakery. She was known for her love of family gatherings, card games, and cooking cherished family recipes, alongside surprising interests like NASCAR racing.
Doraine is remembered as a nurturing mother and grandmother to 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, a son, and one brother. A funeral service was held in Harlan on September 3.
