Frances “Frankie” Eva Anastasi, a beloved member of the Harlan community, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, at Elm Crest, surrounded by her family. She was 94 years old.
Born on December 13, 1930, in Portsmouth, Iowa, Frankie was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. After completing her education at St. Mary’s Our Lady of Fatima School, she dedicated her life to her family and the farming community alongside her husband, Raymond Bernard Anastasi, whom she married in 1948.
Frankie took great pride in raising her five children—Carolyn, Janice, Duane, Patricia, and Shirley—and enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking. In her later years, she worked at the Baptist Memorial Home for a decade before enjoying retirement, which included traveling to visit her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Ray, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as her sister Theresa Blum of Harlan. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on January 11, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
