Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Donald Klein

Donald John Klein, a lifelong resident of the Harlan area, passed away on January 25, 2025, at the age of 91, surrounded by family. Born on March 7, 1933, near Earling, Iowa, Donnie dedicated his life to farming around Harlan, Dunlap, and Walnut, raising hogs and cattle.

Married for over 70 years to JoEllen Koski, he was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Dunlap. Known for his love of the outdoors, Donnie enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and family traditions, including planting sweet corn and preparing hundreds of bags for loved ones each year.

He is remembered fondly by his wife, children, grandchildren, and many relatives, as well as by the community he cherished.
