Community Gathers to Honor Ruth Ann Mortensen
The community of Harlan is coming together to celebrate the life of Ruth Ann Mortensen, 84, on October 30. Join family and friends at Pauley Jones Funeral Home to honor a beloved matriarch who cherished her children, grandchildren, and community.
A family viewing for Ruth Ann Mortensen, 84, of Elk Horn, Iowa, will take place on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan.
Ruth is survived by her children, including Ronald Smith of Tennessee, JoAnn Brown and Troy Smith of Elk Horn, and others from Alabama. She leaves behind a legacy of family with 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Ruth was also cherished by her siblings and many friends throughout the community.
Burial will be scheduled for a later date at the Shelby Cemetery.
