Community Mourns Beloved Veterinarian Dwight Boysen
The Harlan community is mourning the loss of Dwight Boysen, a cherished veterinarian who dedicated his life to animals and the outdoors. Join us in remembering his legacy at the upcoming visitation and memorial services in Harlan this week.

Dwight Lee Boysen, a beloved member of the community, passed away on June 29, 2025, in Custer, South Dakota, at the age of 79. Born on March 9, 1946, in Atlantic, Iowa, Dwight lived a life dedicated to family, veterinary medicine, and the outdoors.
After graduating from Elk Horn High School in 1964, he earned a degree in Veterinary Medicine from Iowa State University in 1971. Dwight established a successful veterinary clinic in Audubon, Iowa, before transitioning to a career in veterinary supply sales.
Dwight is remembered for his cowboy spirit and love of animals. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and lending a helping hand to local ranches. He was an active member of the Mountain View Baptist Church, where he was re-baptized in 2024.
A visitation will be held on July 6 from 5-7 PM at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan. A memorial service will follow on July 7 at 10 AM at the Global Methodist Church in Harlan, with a luncheon to follow.
