The Harlan community is heartbroken over the loss of David Plagmann, a cherished son, father, and friend. Known for his mechanical talents and love for bringing people together, David's legacy of joy and laughter will resonate throughout Shelby County.

Community Mourns the Loss of Harlan's Beloved David Plagmann

David Robert Plagmann, a lifelong Harlan resident, passed away on March 6, 2025, at the age of 36. Born on February 1, 1989, he was a dedicated son of Dale and Trudy Plagmann and a proud father to his children, Kenleigh and Dominic.

David graduated from Harlan Community High School in 2007 and worked at the family farm and Essentia in Harlan, where his remarkable mechanical skills made him a go-to person for repairs. His passion for fixing things extended beyond work; he was known for hosting barbecues that brought friends and family together, filling their lives with joy and laughter.

In addition to his love for family, David enjoyed fishing, grilling, and riding his motorcycle. He married Kelli Hatcher in 2017, creating memories that included their daughter, Kenleigh.

A funeral service was held at Faith Family Church in Harlan, followed by burial at Harlan Cemetery. He is survived by his beloved children, parents, sisters, and many friends.
