Community Mourns the Passing of Lawrence DeTorio
The Harlan community mourns the loss of Lawrence J. DeTorio, a dedicated family man and faithful church member. A public visitation is set for November 21, with a Mass of Christian Burial on November 22. Honor his memory with donations to the March of Dimes in Harlan.
Lawrence J. DeTorio, 68, passed away on November 13, 2024, at the Hildebrandt Hospice Center in Lyons, New York. A cherished member of his community, Lawrence will be remembered for his dedication to family and faith.
A public visitation will be held on November 21 from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Weeks-Keysor Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for November 22 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, followed by burial at South Lyons Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the March of Dimes, located in Harlan, Iowa.
Lawrence was born on April 15, 1956, in Lyons, New York. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from RIT and enjoyed a successful career in payroll at Mobil Chemical for over 40 years. He was deeply involved in his church’s ministries, reflecting his commitment to serving others.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, a grandson, and siblings. Lawrence is predeceased by his infant twin daughters and a granddaughter.
