In a fierce season opener, the Cyclones battled valiantly but fell 64-50 to the Treynor Cardinals. Despite a strong start and a late lead, the team's efforts waned. Coach Klaassen is optimistic as they gear up for their next challenge against St. Albert's.
Cyclones faced a tough loss in their season opener against the Treynor Cardinals, falling 64-50 on Tuesday evening.
The game started promisingly for the Cyclones, with Sophomore Kenzley Bruck and Senior Grace Albertsen initially giving them a 4-0 lead. However, the Cardinals quickly responded, ending the first quarter up 18-12.
The Cyclones fought back in the second quarter, only trailing by two points at halftime, 31-29. The team managed to take the lead in the third quarter, but a strong finish by Treynor allowed them to pull ahead and maintain their advantage.
Head Coach Zach Klaassen acknowledged the team's challenges but remains optimistic about the season ahead.
“We’ll get back at it tomorrow morning,” Klaassen stated.
The Cyclones will look to bounce back against the St. Albert Saintes next Tuesday, a team coming off a successful season. Keep an eye on the Cyclones as they aim to improve and secure their first win of the season!
