The HCHS Cyclones girls basketball team faced a tough opponent on Tuesday, falling to the St. Albert Saintes 71-58 in a road game, marking their second loss of the season.
Head Coach Zach Klaassen highlighted turnovers as a major issue for the team but remains optimistic they can improve.
The Cyclones started slowly, trailing 21-9 at the end of the first quarter. They fought back in the second quarter, scoring 20 points, but still ended the half down 37-29.
Top performers included Senior Grace Albertsen with 18 points and 13 rebounds, Senior Aubrey Schwieso with 17 points and six assists, and Kenzley Bruck who added 12 points.
Despite a strong effort to close the gap, the Cyclones couldn’t maintain momentum in the final quarter, ultimately succumbing to the Saintes.
Looking ahead, the Cyclones will aim to bounce back when they take on Shenandoah this Friday.
