Cyclones Fall Short Against State-Ranked St. Albert

The Harlan Community girls basketball team faced a tough challenge on Tuesday night, battling the state-ranked St. Albert Saintes, the defending Class 1A champions.

The Cyclones put up a strong fight early on, trailing only 15–8 after the first quarter. However, they struggled offensively in the second quarter, scoring just four points and heading into halftime down 24–12.

Despite a more energized performance in the third quarter, where they scored 11 points, the Cyclones could not close the gap, ending the game with a 47–31 loss.

Junior Kenzley Bruck stood out with a double-double, scoring 11 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, alongside six blocks. While the team is still searching for their first win, their defensive efforts have shown promise against tough opponents.

The Cyclones will aim for victory on Thursday night as they host 2–0 Shenandoah at 6:00 p.m. in Harlan.
