Cyclones Gear Up for Tough Season Opener

As the Harlan Cyclones gear up for their season opener, they face a daunting challenge against top-ranked teams. With key players stepping into new roles, the pressure is on to rise above last year's playoff disappointment. Discover the team's hopes and lineup!

Cyclones Gear Up for Tough Season Opener

Harlan’s girls basketball team kicks off their season tonight, led by Head Coach Zach Klasssen. The Cyclones face a challenging start with back-to-back games against tough opponents, including 2A #2 Treynor and 1A #1 St. Albert.

This year, the team will need to fill the shoes of three graduated seniors, all averaging double digits last season. However, junior Kenzley Bruck returns as a key player, contributing 11.3 points per game. She will need to adjust as defenses tighten around her.

Brinley Van Baale, another junior, will step into the point guard position, while senior Addison Wicks is expected to take on a larger role this season. Klasssen has also mentioned senior Kate Koesters and junior Avery Manz as crucial components of the starting lineup.

After losing in last year’s regional semifinals to Atlantic, the Cyclones are eager to prove themselves with this new lineup.
