The Harlan Cyclones girls tennis team kicks off their new season today with a match against Denison Schleswig. Coming off a 5-5 record last year, the team faces significant changes as they lose their top player Naia Ojeda and another exchange student, Julia Pando.
Senior Anastacia Kay steps up to fill the number one position, while junior Chloe Swenson moves to number two. Sophomore Alexa Powers will take on the number three spot. Seniors Rebekah Christensen and Catherine Fah return for doubles, along with senior Lauren Schmitz, who will provide leadership despite not competing this year.
Head Coach Michael Rueschenberg expresses optimism for his players' growth throughout the season. The team is set to play their first four matches on the road, with their home opener scheduled for Monday, August 18, against Red Oak.
