Cyclones Set for Exciting Season Ahead

The Harlan Cyclones baseball team is gearing up for a new season after making a strong state tournament appearance last year with a 27-9 record. This year, the team will need to reload rather than rebuild, as they lose nine seniors, including standout Cade Sears, who has returned to the diamond after shifting to football.

Head Coach Heath Stein is counting on a core group of players to step up. Freshman Jake Schneider had an impressive debut season with a .364 batting average and an effective role as the team’s closer. He will be a key player again this year.

Weston Reisz returns as the ace pitcher, but with limited experience in the bullpen, Stein will also look toward younger players like freshman Foxx Argotsinger and sophomores Cade Nelson and Gavin Eck to fill essential roles.

As the team aims for another trip to state in 2025, the Cyclones are set to open their season next Monday, May 19, with a doubleheader against Sioux City North.
