Harlan's cross country team, the Cyclones, is gearing up for an exciting state meet at the Lakeside Municipal Golf Course in Fort Dodge. Seven standout runners from HCHS will represent the community, including Brylee Schechinger, Allie Anderson, Ava Freund, Sadie Alberti, Ashlyn Rau, Aspen Bieker, and Lindsey Sonderman.
The team secured their spot by finishing second in the regional meet, with Alberti sharing her excitement after earning 34th place during the qualifier. Individual qualifiers Sonderman and Rau showcased strong performances, with Sonderman winning her event.
Head Coach Zach Klaassen praised the team's dedication and hard work throughout the season. The Cyclones, who have had several first-place finishes, are looking to outpace their rankings and compete against 38 other schools, including familiar rivals like Glenwood and Denison.
As they prepare for their final meet of the season, the team hopes to leave a mark in Fort Dodge. This meet not only means a lot for their current standings but also as a farewell to their senior team members.
