Cyclones Soar to Victory in Season Opener Against Mustangs

The Harlan Community Cyclone boys basketball team kicked off their 2025-26 season with a decisive 68-42 victory over the Shenandoah Mustangs, marking a triumphant debut for new Head Coach Dean Mosher.

The Cyclones set the pace early, scoring just 15 seconds into the game with a three-pointer from junior Kobe Klaassen. He contributed 17 points, with a strong performance in the first quarter, including a 13-0 run that showcased the team's aggressive defense and teamwork.

Senior Dallas McDowell shone with a team-high 26 points, helping Harlan build a solid halftime lead of 35-20. Despite a brief challenge from Shenandoah, the Cyclones responded effectively, extending their lead to 55-32 by the end of the third quarter.

With a standout defensive effort, the team forced 17 turnovers and dominated the boards, out-rebounding their opponents 40-29.

Harlan will look to continue their success as they face off against Kuemper Catholic in Carroll on Tuesday at 7:30 PM.
