Cyclones Tennis Teams Poised for Stronger Season

The HCHS Cyclones tennis team is gearing up for their new season, ready to improve from last year’s challenges. The boys team finished 0-21, while the girls ended at 5-19. Despite this, excitement is in the air as Senior Emily Lee expresses enthusiasm for a fresh start.

Coaches Dillon Stane and Michael Rueschenberg are focusing on foundational skills during the first week of practice, especially for newer players. “Tennis is a unique sport, and we want everyone to feel comfortable,” said Stane.

The competition is heating up for the top spots. For the girls, Anastacia Kay and Naia Ojeda are vying for the number one position, while senior Colton Hagle is expected to take the lead on the boys’ side.

With returning starters and promising newcomers like Kobe Klaassen and Julia Pando, the team is shaping up for a more competitive season. The boys kick off their season on April 1 in Council Bluffs, and the girls will debut at home against Denison on April 10.
