Cyclones Triumph at Home: Girls Team Shines at Cyclone Invite

Saturday morning brought a spirited competition at the Harlan Golf & Country Club as the HCHS Cyclones and the Vikings participated in the Cyclone Invite.

The Cyclones girls team secured first place, finishing just ahead of rivals from Lewis Central and Glenwood. Head Coach Zach Klaassen praised his team's execution, emphasizing the tight margins that defined the race.

On the boys side, the Cyclones finished 13th as Erik Heslink and Jeffrey Gross demonstrated resilience, finishing in 25th and 26th place, respectively. Coach Klaassen noted their improvement as they recover from injuries.

Lindsey Sonderman was the standout for the Cyclones girls, securing second place overall and expressing gratitude for the Harlan program's support in her continued growth.

Meanwhile, the Vikings faced challenges with only four girls competing. Makenna Paulsen led her teammates, finishing 46th, and Coach Jackson Renberg acknowledged their efforts despite adversities like allergies.

Next up, the Cyclones will compete again on Tuesday at Majestic Hills. The Vikings will hit the track on Thursday at Manilla Manning Golf Course.
