The Harlan Cyclone wrestling team is off to a strong start this season, led by senior Jesse Jens, who remains undefeated at 15-0 in the 126-pound weight class. Jens has had a remarkable season, winning multiple tournaments, including the Dan Hill Invite and the Riverside Tourney, and achieving a notable victory against Nebraska's top-ranked Lay Wah.
Coach Adam Bendorff is optimistic about the team's prospects as they head into the second half of the season. Senior Spencer Fink (13-2 at 120 pounds) and Brody McKinley (11-5 at 157 pounds) are also contributing significantly to team success, with sophomore Nathan Sandquist standing at 9-3 in the 106-pound category.
Highlighting a crucial December win, 215-pounder Nick Gubbels defeated Landon Fuller of Shenandoah, boosting the team's morale after a previous loss to the Mustangs. Harlan's only home wrestling meet is scheduled for this Thursday, where they will host Atlantic and Denison Schleswig.
Residents are encouraged to support the Cyclones as they gear up for the upcoming Hawkeye Ten Conference tournament on February 1. For more details, visit the original article.
