Harlan 7th in 3A Baseball Rankings
The Harlan Cyclones have climbed to No. 7 in the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association weekly rankings.
The Harlan Cyclones baseball team has secured the No. 7 spot in the latest Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association (IHSBCA) rankings for 3A. With an overall record of 15-5 and a 7-4 standing in conference play, the Cyclones are gaining momentum. The team, currently fourth in the Hawkeye 10, recently achieved three consecutive wins following a tough double-header loss to Glenwood.
Solid pitching has been pivotal to their success, with seniors Brayden Ernst, Brock Lemerick, and Caleb Schleis leading the charge. Collectively, they boast an 11-4 record and impressive ERAs, with Ernst at 1.94. Freshman Colton Schneider has also excelled in the bullpen, leading the conference with five saves.
Despite the departure of senior Cade Sears for summer football camp, head coach Heath Stein remains confident in the team's depth and potential for a strong state tournament run.
The Cyclones will face Red Oak in a doubleheader tonight and will compete against Lewis Central in Council Bluffs tomorrow.
