Harlan City Council Approves Stricter Snow Parking Rules

The Harlan City Council approved final changes to the city’s snow emergency parking rules at Tuesday’s meeting, passing the amendment 6-0.

Under the new rules, no vehicle may be parked, abandoned, or left unattended on public streets or alleys during a snow emergency until snow has been plowed and the snow has stopped falling. Parking is banned on all streets during active snow-cleaning operations.

City-owned parking lots remain available for parking during snow emergencies, officials said.

Street Superintendent Jeff Musich said the amendment will benefit residents and help crews clear streets more efficiently.
