Harlan City Council to Hold Public Hearing on Park Name Change
Harlan residents are encouraged to share their thoughts on the potential renaming of JJ Jensen Park at a public hearing on November 4th. The city council will also tackle other pressing local issues, including parking regulations and upcoming community events.
The Harlan City Council has scheduled a public hearing regarding a proposed name change for JJ Jensen Park. Residents are invited to voice their opinions on this matter on November 4th at 5:15 p.m.
In addition to the park name discussion, the council addressed several important issues during their recent meeting. They approved the second reading of an ordinance that changes no parking zones on the north side of Dodge Street between 4th and 7th Streets. Another ordinance concerning adult entertainment businesses was also reviewed.
The council also completed necessary documentation for Iowa DOT Title VI Certification, Assurance, and ADA Compliance. Furthermore, they granted a street closure for the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce’s Harvest Fest, set for October 25th, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Lastly, Jenny Barnett was reappointed to the Harlan Municipal Utilities Board of Trustees for another six-year term, set to expire November 30, 2031.
