Harlan City Council Unveils Exciting 2025 Updates
Exciting changes are on the horizon for Harlan in 2025! From new pool hours to the approval of an aviation grant and updates to city positions, local residents can look forward to a summer full of community events and improvements. Discover what's in store!
The Harlan City Council has approved new pool hours for 2025, opening daily from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday through Friday, and from 12:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Residents can look forward to the sale of pool passes starting in April.
In addition to swimming hours, the council moved ahead with an IDOT Aviation Grant for a new fuel facility at the local airport. They also made updates to the city handbook, notably removing residency requirements for key positions such as City Clerk and Fire Chief.
Furthermore, street closure permits were approved for the upcoming “Roar into Harlan” events, which will take place from May through August. The council has partnered with Snyder & Associates for the 2025 Street Improvement Project and released a deferred loan agreement with Jacobs Corporation.
