Harlan Council Approves West Nishnabotna River Access

The Harlan City Council has approved a support letter and moved forward with a construction contract for a new river access site near Highway 44 at the West Nishnabotna River.

City Parks representative Tim Miller told the Council the River Access Project is funded by grants from the Iowa DOT and DNR and aims to improve local recreational opportunities on the river.

The Council approved signing a construction contract with Christensen Bros., Inc. to build the access.

This project should make it easier for Harlan and Shelby County residents to reach the river for boating, fishing and other outdoor activities.
