Harlan Cross Country Teams Gear Up for State Championships

Harlan's cross country teams had a successful day at the state-qualifying meets, with both Harlan and Des Moines Christian securing their spots at the state championships.

At the Class 3A qualifier in Spencer, Harlan finished as the runner-up, thanks to strong performances from Ashlyn Rau and Julia Heslink, who placed 2nd and 6th, respectively. Their efforts contributed to Harlan's solid 102-point total.

Des Moines Christian dominated the competition at another qualifier, taking home the team championship with 41 points, led by individual champion Elyse Erzen.

In addition to the team successes, several individuals from Atlantic, Glenwood, Heelan, and Sioux City North also qualified for state. Notable among them was Atlantic's Katrina Williams, finishing 16th at her qualifier.

As the teams prepare for the state championship in Fort Dodge, local residents are encouraged to support their runners.
