Harlan Cyclones Aim for Comeback After Promising Season
The Harlan Cyclones are poised for a comeback after a strong season that saw them narrowly miss the state tournament. With four key seniors departing, including All-State catcher Hayden Soma, the team’s future hinges on developing resilience and capitalizing on their pitching depth.

The Harlan Cyclones baseball team wrapped up another competitive season, falling just short of the state tournament with a 4-2 defeat to Bishop Heelan in the 3A Substate Final.
This season was impressive, with the Cyclones' senior class achieving 97 victories over four years. However, Harlan now faces the challenge of replacing four key seniors, including standout All-State catcher Hayden Soma, who had an impressive .414 batting average along with 41 RBIs and five home runs.
Despite these departures, Coach Heath Stein remains optimistic. The team retains four of its top five pitchers, including Jonas Reynolds and Gavin Eck, who had a solid record of 6-2 and a 1.89 ERA.
As the Cyclones prepare for the upcoming season, developing a winning mentality will be crucial for their return to postseason glory.
