Harlan's girls cross country team will head to the state meet thanks to a strong performance at the district competition in Spencer. The Cyclones secured a second-place finish with 102 points, trailing only Sioux Center, which dominated the event.
Ashlyn Rau led the charge for Harlan, finishing 2nd overall with a time of 18:38.6. Julia Heslink also made a solid contribution, securing 6th place. Sioux Center's runners took four of the top ten spots, with Harlan and MOC Floyd Valley closely following in the standings.
On the boys side, Jeffrey Gross qualified for state individually by finishing 7th with a time of 16:42.7. However, the boys team faced tough competition, finishing in 8th place overall.
