The Harlan Cyclones head to the Class 2A district meet Saturday in Glenwood, facing many Hawkeye Ten rivals including Atlantic, Clarinda, Creston, Red Oak, Shenandoah and Winterset.

Coach Adam Bendorf says the team can surprise despite losing 157-pounder Brody Bendorf to hip surgery; Brody’s future in the sport is uncertain.

Top returners include junior Chayton Snethen (37-4) and Jaden Stephens, who will drop from 190 to 175 pounds for districts. Keep an eye on Nathan Sandquist (138), Coy Obrecht (144) and heavyweight Jaspyr Nielsen.

Two freshmen also figure into the coach’s optimistic outlook as the Cyclones prepare for a tough weekend. KS 95.7 FM will carry district coverage from Glenwood.
