Harlan Cyclones Softball Team Gears Up for Playoff Push
The Harlan Cyclones softball team is on an upswing, winning three of their last four games. With improved pitching and a streamlined hitting strategy, this young team's playoff hopes are alive. Discover their challenges and bright future ahead!

The Harlan Cyclones softball team is showing signs of improvement late in their season after a challenging start, having won three of their last four games.
Head Coach Brett Croghan noted that the team's pitching has improved, with pitchers focusing on making contact rather than aiming for perfection. Harlan has utilized juniors Lauren Schmitz and Rebekah Christensen, along with sophomore Camryn Goshorn, on the mound.
At the plate, the Cyclones have adopted a simpler hitting strategy, aiming to put the ball in play more frequently. Sophomore Taylor Heese leads the team with a .338 batting average, including three home runs and 18 RBIs.
Looking ahead, the future seems bright for the Cyclones as they have no senior starters, giving them a solid foundation of young talent to build on. Harlan currently stands at 4-19 overall and is gearing up for a doubleheader against Red Oak, followed by a playoff game against Atlantic on July 10.
