Harlan Football Stars Shine in GPAC Honors

Two local football stars have received top honors from the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).

Harlan alum Stephen Leinen has been named the Special Teams Player of the Week. Currently kicking for Dordt, Leinen excelled in a recent game by successfully completing 4-for-4 extra points and kicking a 40-yard field goal during the Defenders' victory over Hastings.

Meanwhile, Maryville alum Connor Drake earned the title of Offensive Player of the Week. As quarterback for Dakota Wesleyan, Drake made headlines by throwing for 402 yards and four touchdowns in an overtime win against Mount Marty, marking him as the first Dakota Wesleyan quarterback to surpass 400 yards since 2018.
