Harlan Girls Wrestling Team Set for Exciting Second Season
Excitement is in the air as Harlan's girls wrestling team enters its second season, led by Coach Tarah Deviln Lawler. With a mix of seasoned seniors and eager freshmen, the squad faces new challenges but sets its sights on growth and success. Don't miss the kickoff on November 25!
Harlan's girls wrestling team is gearing up for its second season, with renewed hope and determination. Under the guidance of Head Coach Tarah Deviln Lawler, the program looks to build on last year's foundational efforts.
This season features a unique roster of nine wrestlers, including five seniors and four freshmen. Coach Deviln Lawler acknowledges the challenge posed by the loss of senior Paige Wilwerding, who will graduate early to join the military but continues to participate in practices. Unfortunately, senior Ivy Stevens will miss the entire season due to a knee injury.
Last year, the team struggled, with none of the wrestlers finishing with a winning record; Wilwerding led with a 5-9 mark. However, the coach remains optimistic, emphasizing personal growth and fostering talent among the freshmen.
The season kicks off on November 25 at the CBAL tournament, where the Cyclones hope to make their mark. Harlan residents are encouraged to support these athletes as they strive for individual and team success.
