Sheila Weis Mikkelsen, 73, of Harlan, died Feb. 13, 2026, surrounded by family and her companion, Ron Buckholdt.
A 1970 graduate of Harlan Community High School, Sheila spent much of her career caring for others at Elm Crest Senior Living in Harlan and at Salem Lutheran Homes in Elk Horn. She also studied nursing at Iowa Western Community College.
She is survived by her daughter Jeannie, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many siblings, and her dog, Trixie. She was preceded in death by her daughter Melissa and her parents.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan, with visitation 9:30–11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Harlan Cemetery. Pauley Jones Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
