Harlan Receives Grant to Beautify Community Spaces

In an exciting boost for Harlan, the Shelby County Wellness Alliance has been awarded a 2025 Paint Iowa Beautiful grant. This initiative, backed by Diamond Vogel and Keep Iowa Beautiful, aims to enhance public spaces through community-driven beautification projects.

For over 21 years, this program has supported various projects across Iowa, supplying free paint to transform schools, parks, libraries, and other community facilities. In total, the program has facilitated the painting of over five million square feet and funded more than 1,500 projects statewide.

According to Doug Vogel, Vice President of Diamond Vogel, the initiative not only brightens Iowa's towns but also fosters a sense of collaboration and pride among residents.

This year, a total of 87 grants have been awarded across Iowa to strengthen local communities through revitalization efforts. Harlan's participation underlines the commitment to making our town more vibrant.
