Harlan Residents Invited to Share Thoughts on Park Name Change

The Harlan City Council has scheduled a public hearing regarding a proposed name change for JJ Jensen Park. Residents can voice their opinions on November 4th at 5:15 p.m.

During the meeting, the council also reviewed multiple city ordinances. They addressed changes to no parking zones along the north side of Dodge Street between 4th and 7th Streets and proposed amendments related to adult entertainment businesses.

Additionally, the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Title VI Certification and ADA compliance documents were approved. The council approved a street closure for the upcoming Harvest Fest, organized by the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, which will take place on October 25th from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Moreover, Jenny Barnett was reappointed to the Harlan Municipal Utilities Board of Trustees for a six-year term, which will conclude on November 30, 2031.
