The Hawkeye Ten Conference Cross Country Meet is taking place today in Shenandoah, with several local teams poised for success.
The Harlan girls’ team, currently ranked #15 in Class 3A, is considered a favorite alongside Glenwood. Coach Dan Vargason from Atlantic anticipates a competitive race, with strong contenders from Glenwood, Lewis Central, and Atlantic also in the mix.
Notably, the girls’ race features top athletes like Lili Denton from St. Albert and Harlan’s own Ashlyn Rau, ranked 11th in Class 3A.
On the boys’ side, Red Oak leads as a favorite, including top runners such as Emmanuel Grass and Hayden Heitbrink. Harlan’s Jeffrey Gross, ranked 18th in Class 3A, will be a significant competitor. Coach Vargason emphasizes the strong performances from Lewis Central and Shenandoah in recent meets.
