Students in southwest Iowa, including Harlan, have a great opportunity to secure funding for their higher education. The Southwest Iowa Educational Foundation (SWIEF) is offering over $600,000 in scholarships, available through a single application process until March 15, 2025.
Dr. Cara Cool Trede, President of SWIEF, emphasized the importance of these scholarships, particularly for first-generation college students who may face financial hurdles. Last year, over 150 students from more than 30 local high schools benefited from this funding.
The SWIEF partners with the Community Foundation for Western Iowa to streamline scholarship management, which makes the application process easier for students. Donna Dostal, president and CEO of the Foundation, highlighted the unique coordinated efforts in our region to support young leaders through education.
Interested students can find the application on SWIEF or Community Foundation websites. For further details on scholarships or how to contribute as a donor, visit the SWIEF website.
