Harlan graduate Cade Sears is making waves in the baseball world after committing to Vanderbilt University. Just a year ago, Sears faced uncertainty in his baseball career, but he’s now set to play in one of the top college baseball conferences.
Originally committed to football at South Dakota State, Sears transitioned to baseball after realizing it was his true passion. Following a year at Iowa Central Community College, where he showcased his skills with impressive stats, he attracted the attention of Vanderbilt's coaching staff.
“I want to walk in there and give whoever’s playing there right now a run for their money,” Sears expressed as he looks forward to contributing to a program that has consistently made NCAA postseason appearances.
With family ties to baseball—as his brothers have also played at the collegiate level—Sears is excited to continue his family's athletic legacy.
