Harlan's Ellexis Stephens Shines at Atlantic Wrestling Invite

Lewis Central claimed victory at the Atlantic Girls Wrestling Invitational this past Saturday, scoring 196 points and securing four individual championships. Notable champions included Avaeh Smith at 120 lbs, Emerson Gregg at 125 lbs, Kassidy Fiala at 135 lbs, and Kalen Jo Westerfield at 155 lbs.

The SWAT team from the surrounding area also had a strong showing, finishing third with 140 points, featuring individual champions Stephanie Beattie (170 lbs) and Ellen Gerlock (190 lbs). Harlan’s own Ellexis Stephens made an impressive performance, earning a second-place finish in the 125 lbs category as the team ended in 19th place overall.

Des Moines Public Schools took second with 158 points, aided by titles from Jada Hansen (130 lbs) and Diana Gale (145 lbs). Other local schools including Audubon and Red Oak also participated, highlighting a competitive atmosphere.

With several strong performances, the event showcased the talent of young female wrestlers from the region.
