Harlan Community High School senior Lindsey Sonderman has officially committed to run cross country and track at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) after graduation. Excited about her choice, Sonderman expressed gratitude for the opportunity during her official visit, highlighting the university's strong team atmosphere and its proximity to her family.
Under the guidance of coaches Zach Klaassen and Jenny Hamilton, Sonderman has had a remarkable high school career, culminating in a successful cross country season where she earned a spot at the state meet. She finished fourth overall with a time of 18:29.3 and reflected fondly on her high school memories, particularly the team bonding and her freshman year’s Hawkeye Ten victory.
As she heads into her final track season, Sonderman is focused on her goals and preparing for new challenges. Coach Klaassen is proud of her achievements and looks forward to supporting her as she transitions to collegiate athletics, eager to learn from her experiences at UNI.
