The Southwest Iowa Fishing Team (SWIFT) junior anglers are set to compete in the 2025 Junior World Championship, taking place from July 30 to August 1 on Lake Oahe in Pierre, South Dakota. This prestigious event showcases young talent from across the U.S. and Canada, with over $12,000 in scholarships and prizes available.
Notable team members include Harlan’s own Leon Polley, as well as other skilled young anglers from nearby towns. Polley and his teammate Walter Louk recently finished as runners-up at the Iowa Jr. Bass State Championships, making them a team to watch at the championship.
Coach Bob Harris expressed pride in his team’s abilities and emphasized the importance of sportsmanship and growth in youth fishing. He also acknowledged the volunteer boat captains’ support, which is crucial for the students’ success.
