HCHS Girls Track Shines at Iowa State Meet

The HCHS girls track and field team kicked off their season with a strong showing at the Iowa State Meet, competing with just 17 athletes.
Head Coach Jenny Hamilton praised the team's efforts, especially in the sprint medley relay where Lily Schechinger, Paige Sonderman, Josie Sonderman, and Abby Broeckelman secured 19th place with a time of 2:04.37.
Individually, Aubree Wegner and Paige Sonderman ran competitively in the 400m dash, while Brylee Schechinger completed the 800m run. A standout performance came from Lindsey Sonderman, who won the 3000m event, beating her own school record and setting a new IATC record with a time of 10:12.87.
The Cyclones' next meet is scheduled for Friday at the Kuyper Athletic Complex in Pella, where they will face off against 39 other schools. Coach Hamilton expressed excitement about the determination and teamwork displayed by her athletes.
