HCHS Track Teams Shine at Monarch Relays

The Harlan Community High School (HCHS) girls track and field team demonstrated impressive skill at the recent Monarch Relays, securing third place with 122 points, just 18 points behind the winners from Atlantic. Coach Jenny Hamilton praised the team's focus and noted that 20 athletes contributed points across various events.

Key performers included Aubree Wegner in high jump and Josie Sonderman in long jump, both finishing in the top ten. The girls also excelled in hurdles and the 1500m, with records set by Brylee Schechinger and strong relay finishes.

Meanwhile, the HCHS boys team finished fourth with 95 points, showing promise early in the season. Coach Sam Brummer highlighted good performances from sprinters Hagen Sorensen and Landon Nihsen, as well as Jeffrey Gross, who won the 3200m. The boys will face a busy schedule ahead, competing next on Tuesday at Glenwood High School.

Both teams aim to build on their performances as they continue their track season.
