In a troubling incident in Earling, two individuals have been arrested in connection with the death of a 32-year-old woman found at a residence on July 31. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office announced that Winston “Joe” Leal is facing first-degree murder charges, while Ashley McWilliams is charged as an accessory after the fact.
Leal is currently detained with no bond, while McWilliams has a bond set at $50,000.
This case has drawn the attention of law enforcement agencies, including the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Council Bluffs Police Department, who assisted in the inquiry.
The victim's body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.
